Wonderful French Musical Carousel with Rare Animal Figures - By Louis Marie RENOU
This beautiful carousel is so fabulous with its four bisque head jockeys, each riding a glass-eyes carousel animal : a horse, a pig and two bunnies.
The carousel is richly decorated with mirrored center pedestal (slight fading on one side see picture), red and white striped awning enhanced with gold fringe and gold ormolu border, red sateen covered base and at the middle is hanging its four original blue mercury glass balls.
When would, the carousel twirls about a joyful way and music plays. The melodious music and mecanism function very well.
Very good condition for the dolls, each with glass eyes, the sateen costumes are a bit dusty and wear. Slight missing at the end of one horse’s paw.
All original. It is a very charming and joyful scene to see and to hear.
Rare to find with jockeys dolls. A mechanical masterpiece for connoisseurs and collectors.
France - Circa 1907.
Total high 19 1/8"(48.5 cm).
